Wind Takes Center Stage in Tropea: No Inshore Racing, Aeronautica Militare Wins Offshore Leg

A day of contrasting fortunes marked the Giro d’Italia a Vela on the waters of the Costa degli Dei. Light and unstable winds prevented the Inshore races for the Waszp and WingFoil classes from taking place, with both Waszp starting attempts abandoned after the breeze suddenly dropped.
The Offshore race, however, delivered an impressive spectacle as the Figaro fleet arrived in daylight after an approximately 50-hour passage from Syracuse. Crews spent two days and two nights at sea, battling shifting winds, currents and demanding tactical conditions.
The stage victory went to the Aeronautica Militare crew, which mastered the challenging wind transitions to secure a well-deserved win. Guardia di Finanza finished second after a closely fought battle that lasted until the final miles. The result injects fresh momentum into the competition as the Giro d’Italia a Vela heads toward its next stages.
